Bethy Bliss
Are you in love with yoga! Bethy will guide through deep calm flow yoga. She has a background in
physical therapy; this session will focus realignment and balancing, and creating a space where this
can flow over us on all levels.
Bring water bottle/wear comfortable cloths

11:15 -12:15 “7 KEYS TO SPIRIT CONNECTION”

speaker and visual artist! An interactive leadership, stress relief, confidence-building workshop!
Brenda will inspire you through…. aboriginal drumming, water teachings, the Law of Attraction and cultural
awareness.

Experience medicine song visualizations! Learn simple breathing technique! Learn how to access your
gifts! Sing empowering Aboriginal medicine songs. Originally from Kamploops/Vernon…this is her coming

12:30 – 1:30 A TASTE OF CLASSIC INDIAN DANCE
Melanie & Sharmila

Come to get a taste of the art of classical Indian dance, learn new ways to express yourself! Melanie
and Sharmila have been studying Bharatanatyam dance for more than 5 years under Karthika Devi of South India.  Bharatanatyam has many layers and intrigues through artistic movement combined with intricate rhythms. This pure dance tells a story, portraying emotion. The feet keep rhythm, legs give form and agility, arms show grace and flow, the hands depict themes and the face shows expression to compliment each movement! Join Melanie and Sharmila…share there dedicated to the perfection of their movements and their enjoyment of the dance as we journey to India!

Rythmic Art WorkshopsCelebrate your rhythmic self! Join Angela for this dynamic, cultural voyage through the world
percussion, song & rhythm! Facilitated with an assortment percussion instruments and drums!
Share, & express your grove & beats, learn new rhythms and polyrhythm combo blended with the
vibrant percussion and voice! Award winning educator, performing artists & percussionist Angela
tours throughout Western Canada performing at festivals, presenting at conference! Known for her
“joie de vivre” and children programs, she works in schools and community across the country as an
“artist in residency”. This is Angela 6th year at the festival…since is roots! She is recording her
second CD accompanied by a book; title “Sound Art” to be released this fall. Participants from this
session are invited to drum for the Poi Spinning workshop with Mary Goerge… to follow! Drums &

3:00 –4:00 “FIRE FLIES!” POI SPINNING & DANCE
Mary George
Poi dances a vibrant art form! Join Mary and learn the basic poi moves and sequences of poi….walk
away with enough skills to expand to the next stage…. fire if you so desire! Fireflies…through out this
session we will transform our self with grace and energy to spin dance and move…to the vibration of
live drums & rhythms! If you love to dance you’ll love this creative and unique form of expression! Mary
is a locally grown poi and fire dancer. Mary is a performing artist, dancer & singer she performed
through BC and Taiwan. Mary performed with Wassabi Collective, Life and Arts Festival and various
Fashion show events! Poi provided Max participants 10

4:15 – 5:15 HOOP -SHOP
Belva Stone ~ Mystress Fyre
Hula Hooping…join Belva for this high energy, body forming….hoop-shop! Learn flow
movements…keep it going around your waist to lifting it up over your head and bringing it back down! Easy like pie! Hula Hooping is a fabulous core body work out that will massage AND work out your tummy muscles. Belva is a festival favorite or better know as the Mystress Fyre…she has been exploring the art movement/fire arts for several years. She teaches poi & hoops across the West Coast! Her newest passion…
Hula hooping….with Fire! Know for her energetic and humorous teaching style Belva is sure to delight

5:30 – 6:30 ACOUSTIC BLUES
Trevor Caswell
Beginning Acoustic Blues Workshop will look at chords, chord shapes and progressions used in
acoustic blues. After getting a primer in these chords and progressions the workshop will move on to
finger picking patterns and exercises to help you get all your digits moving independently. If time
permits we’ll also look at some lead playing. Trevor Caswell has been performing music for the past 17
years and has released 3 CDs and an EP. Mostly known as a folk singer, he has a passion for the blues
and is currently working on songs for an upcoming blues release.
Suggested donation of $10

6:30 – 7:30 CHAKRA BELLY DANCING
Taiya Wind Bloosom
This dance form is gentle and fun. It is safe and suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. We will combine
basic Middle Eastern belly dance
moves with a variety of creative movement techniques. Explore the essence of your seven chakras and
their role in helping you to maintain
good physical, mental and spiritual health. This dance form is a celebration of life and the intricate
connection between body, mind and spirit.
Taiya Curle has been belly dancing since 1991. She has performed and taught in Australia, New
Zealand, BC, Thailand, Malasha and India since 1997. Having become a Reiki Master Teacher in 1999,
Taiya works with a strong spiritual awareness of the Universal Life force energy, which she also
expresses in her deep love for dance and its therapeutic value of emotional and spiritual rejuvenation.

Yoga Workshops

10-11am FLOW YOGA ~ DEEP CALM
Bethy Bliss
Join certified yoga instructor Dawn Lasby for a morning yoga class that includes sun salutations,
foundational postures, exploration of the breath and relaxation. Dawn is an Integrative Yoga Therapy
instructor and Thai Massage therapist. Her training incorporates Hatha yoga, Kripalu teachings and
Sivanada styles of yoga. She has recently returned from a spiritual journey in Kerala, India.

11:15 -12:15 HOW TO GET MORE OF WHAT YOU NEED WITH LESS”
Huguette Allen
Examine what makes us happy throughout our life cycle and how those needs can be met in our daily
life and the messages that popular culture sends us. Plan how we can make simple changes in our
personal life that will have significant effects. Leave this session with a different outlook…what is
important in life? Know how to make behavioral changes that will lead to more satisfaction, less work,
and less expenses! Join Huguette for a thought provoking session! Originally, from Montreal
Quebec…she now resides in BC. An active member of our community she developed the proposal for
the Lumby Salmon Trails, acted as spokesperson for the Sugar Lake Middle Shuswap Stewards.
Business consultant & educator, she contributes to sustainable economic development! Huguette is
promoting practices that make us feel good about what we do rather than guilty of mortgaging the
future of our children. She is currently the candidate for the Green Party of Canada!

12:30 – 1:30 VOICE FREEDOM!
Kea
Kea provides a safe space of full permission and clear guidance to explore, develop and enjoy your
voice and the inner world which is navigated through singing and chanting. She is going to new
places, more gently and with higher amusement and greater skill than ever before. It is the summer to
sing with Kea again or for the first time. Kea has a degree in vocal performance followed by fifteen
years of teaching, chanting, writing and performing on a path of recovery and discovery of her
authentic and fully embodied sound and style. She has cd’s, other degrees, three sons and inspiration
to offer in the form of song and uncovering your voice. Max participants 40

1:45 – 2:45 POI-SHOP
Belva Stone ~ Mystress Fyre
Never tried poi spinning before but always wanted too? Know a little bit but want to improve your skill?
Don't know what Poi is and want to try it anyway? Come to this one hour workshop and work all
aspects of your poi spinning levels---starting with the basics and moving up! Belva will cover moves
such as the Butterfly, the Corkscrew and basic Turns! Come on out! It's FUN! Mystress Fyre, Belva
Stone, was co-emcee last year at the festival and taught Poi workshops. Belva's been performing in the
movement/fire arts for 7 years. Started her spinning career in San Francisco, where she first saw fire
dancing and since then has been spinning and teaching professionally up and down the West Coast
awing audiences of all kinds with her fire, her spirit and her skill.
$10 fee per participant / Poi provided / Max participants 15 / See Sunday 1:45 to 2:45 Poi-shop

3:00 –4:00 WEST AFRICAN DRUMMING
Bobby Bovenzi
From beginner to advanced, come join the celebration of Rhythms from our brothers and sisters in
West Africa. We will first
cover technique patterns to help your sound, speed and rhythm awareness. We’ll then learn an original
piece of Bobby’s called the Bo Funk,
played on djembé and dununs. This rhythm is very fun and can be played along with guitars very
nicely.
Bobby Bovenzi has been studying and teaching drumming since 1994. He has earned a great
reputation in the Okanagan Valley for
inspiring the spirit of rhythm within all who join him. Bobby is very thankful to be invited back for a third
year at Komasket and
hopes to share his passion for teaching rhythm with lots of peeps 

5:30 – 6:30 AFRO-LATIN RHYTHM & CHANTS
Pepe Denza & Navaro
Join this amazing inspiring duo… 'Pepe & Navaro for a dymamic rhythm and song journey through of
Afro-Latin Music! Pepe is an electrifying percussionist and multi- instrumentalist and Navaro spirited percussionist & dancer!
Pepe a native of Montevideo, Uruguay, he began classical guitar and music theory studies at age eight.
At thirteen he began his performing career…all along he was naturally immersed in his native
Candombe rhythms, the national groove of Uruguay! In his extensive touring & traveling he has shared
the stage with the likes of Ani DiFranco, Oscar Lopez, the Dalai Lama and David Lindley. Artistic
Director for the Vancouver Sacred Music Festival, teaches for the Vancouver's School Board. He has
received countless award nominations including Musician of the Year in 1999 (West Coast Music
Awards), Juno for his work with Asza, Leo awards for his work in film music, and Jessie awards for his
theater scores!.
Navaro has been drumming & dancing since 1981. A dancer leader for many community & professional
groups! She performed with Marimba Muzuva, Gordy Ryan’s Island Rhythm, Mama Samba, and her
Ecstatic Music & Dance Ensemble, The Wave Collective. Navaro has studied in Africa and presents at
festival across the west coast. A performer and teacher she has inspired thousands of adults &
children through dance and rhythm! Experience her passion for community building and the healing
power of rhythm and dance.

6:30 – 7:30 TRIBAL BELLYDANCE
Ashala Yardley & Lori Sargent
Explore the sacred art of Tribal Belly dance/ Stretching & isolating parts of the body then combining
these movements into a dance of celebration. Lori and Ashala have several years of combined
experience teaching and performing Tribal Belly dance.
